Application Process

Application Grade

Korean Applicant: Application is open for Kindergarten - G9.

Admission to Calvin Manitoba International School is highly competitive. Please note that the admission space is very limited especially for the Korean applicants.

If the applicant has multiple nationalities including the nationality of the Republic of Korea, the applicant must apply as a Korean applicant.

Foreign Applicant: Application is open for Kindergarten - G9, G11 - G12. Applicants interested in applying to G10 please contact the admissions office.

The applying grade at Calvin Manitoba International School is determined based on the applicant’s date of birth as shown in the chart above. Arbitrary grade change is not allowed. However, the exceptions are as follows, and in these cases, please note that applicants may be placed in the same grade as those admitted according to the grade and age eligibility chart shown above.

Applicants currently attending a school with similar curricula/calendar (foreign schools, international schools, schools overseas) as Calvin Manitoba International School may apply to the subsequent grade.

Example: G4 in the 2024-2025 school year -> Apply to G5 for the 2025-2026 school year

Applicants currently attending a public or private Korean school must apply to the current grade.

Example: G4 in March, 2025 -> Apply to G4 for the 2025-2026 school year

Applicants applying for the Korean Academic Certification Program at Calvin Manitoba International School must be Korean and be able to prove that they have been enrolled in or graduated from a school that is recognized for Korean education up to the semester prior to their admission to our school, and there should be no gaps in their academic semesters.

The required documents must be valid and up to date.

Each document must be scanned, saved as pdf, and attached to the online application form.

Please note that the online application form cannot be edited after submission.

Failure to adhere to the following guidelines may lead to rejection at the document stage.

Required Document Details

All required documents can be submitted in English or Korean unless otherwise specified.

Application Fee Receipt: Submit a proof of the payment. Please use the applicant’s last name and applying grade as the sender. (Ex. G2PARKER)

Student’s ID Photo: Submit an ID photo (3x4 cm) taken within the last 3 months. If the photo does not match the student, it may be difficult for them to take the exam on that day.

Passport:

Submit the title page of the passport. Make sure the passport is valid for at least 6 months from the first day of school (September 2025). Please renew the passport if necessary.

In case the applicant has applied for a renewal, but has not received it yet, submit a proof of the renewal process (e.g. appointment details from the embassy) with the old passport.

If the applicant has multiple nationalities including the nationality of the Republic of Korea, the applicant must apply as a Korean applicant and submit the Korean passport.

Certificate of Enrollment: Submit a certificate of enrollment from the school the applicant is currently attending.

The certificate must be issued during the application period (2025.02.24-2025.03.14).

Transcript/Report Cards:

Grade K-1: Submit a recent report card of one school year from the current/previous school. If the applicant has never attended an institute (e.g. kindergarten, nursery) before, the certificate of enrollment, report card, and teacher recommendation form can be excused.

Grade 2-9: Submit a recent report card of two school years from the current/previous school. Submit a recent report card of two school years from the current/previous school.

Grade 10-12: Submit a complete and official high school report card/transcript, translated in English, which includes all grades and credits earned from grade 9. Applicants should be aware that if they do not have the necessary credits to fulfill the graduation requirements of Calvin Manitoba International School, their application may be denied. Please consult with the admissions team to ensure the applicant can meet the graduation requirements before submitting the application.

Teacher Recommendation Form: Submit a letter of recommendation, from a homeroom or English subject teacher, from the school or kindergarten the applicant is currently attending.

A request for the recommendation letter will be sent directly to the teacher’s email address the applicant has provided on the form, within 2-3 working days starting on Monday, February 24, 2025. Then, the teacher needs to submit the letter to the school by Monday, March 24, 2025 12:00.

Standardized Test Results (Optional): Submit the results of the standardized test for those who have taken an English Standardized Test within the last 2 years.

Notes

Fill out the Online Application Form on our website and attach the supporting documents (with the application fee receipt). The file must be of pdf (except the Student ID Photo, jpg) and 20000 kb or less.

When filling out the online application, please save your progress regularly. After submitting your application, please check the website to confirm that it has been submitted successfully.

If the applicant has sibling(s) applying together, please create individual IDs and apply separately.

The online application form cannot be modified after the submission. Applicants may check their application status on the website (My Page → Application Status) along the process.

Application submission will be strictly closed after the deadline (Friday, March 14, 2025 12:00)

We suggest the applicants submit the form as soon as possible as a large number of applicants are expected to apply on the last day of the registration.

Calvin Manitoba International School is not responsible for any consequences arising from the falsification of documents or the omission of information, which may lead to the annulment of the application or acceptance offer.

Step 2: Complete the Admission Assessment

Model Lesson: Students in grades K-2 will participate in a group model lesson led by our school teachers. During this session, teachers will evaluate the students' learning progress in English and Math, and classroom behavior comprehensively.

English & Math Exam: The exams will be in a written exam format. The English exam has reading and writing components.

Student Interview: The student interview will be in English in 1 to 1 format.

Parent Interview: The interview will be conducted in English. Translators will be available for Korean speakers. If you require a translator for any other language, we kindly request that you make arrangements for one to accompany you. One or both parents/guardians can attend as preferred.

Applicants who passed the first stage must print the identification slip on the website (My Page → Application Status) and attend the onsite examination or interview with the slip on the scheduled date. In case an applicant does not show up, the application process will automatically be cancelled, and the application fee will not be refunded.

The admission assessment scores or any other information related to the final decision made by the Admissions Committee is strictly confidential and not provided.

Step 3: Wait for the Admissions Decision

The Admission Committee will announce the decision after carefully reviewing each application and the test results. Upon acceptance, you will receive a Certificate of Admission and an Admission Handbook.
